Bio

Dr. Doug Kowieski joined Fruti Cove Baptist Church in a part-time capacity as the Director of The Cove Ministry in 2018. Doug currently serves as a full-time deputy sheriff assigned to the Youth Services Unit as a canine handler. He has served in this position for 21 years and collectively in law enforcement for 28 years. He also serves as a chaplain ministering to first responders and the community. 

 

Doug holds a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Counseling, a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling, and a Master of Arts in Human Services from Liberty University. His doctoral research centered on “Sexual Abuse in the Church,” and its implications on the local church. Doug has published an article with Christian Parenting Magazine “Such a Time as This: Saying Yes to Foster or Adoption.” Doug also serves as an adjunct professor for the School of Psychology and Counseling at Regent University. He is a Board Certified Pastoral Counselor and Board Certified Master Mental Health Coach by the International Board of Christian Care.

 

Doug and his wife began their adoptive journey as parents in 2021 and have received a spirit of passion to help and encourage other foster and adoptive parents. Doug enjoys time with his family, visiting amusement parks, reading, going to the beach, and finding solace while tending the garden at home.
