TROPICAL STORM &
HURRICANE INFORMATION

As we are in hurricane season, please refer to this page for updates on cancellations of church services and scheduled activities due to inclement weather.

10/10/24 3:05pm update:

We are thankful that our immediate area was not greatly impacted by Hurricane Milton.
  • The 10am gathering at the church  on Friday for community cleanup has been cancelled. Continue to check in on and “own” your street, and pray for our friends and neighbors to the south as they begin recovery efforts.
  • We are also working with FL Baptist Disaster Relief to identify 1 Day serving opportunities. If you are interested in serving 1 Day in an impacted area please

10/8/24 11:15am update: all church activities are cancelled from 2pm today through end of day Thursday. The church office will close at 2pm today and the plan is to re-open 9am Friday.

Milton Response Plan

#LoveFirstCoast

We want to be a church that responds to the needs of our members and our community. Therefore, we are inviting you to:

Love Your Neighbors-

  • Our people are our best resources. Our church family is strategically placed throughout St Johns County and Southern Duval County.
    • check in with your neighbors to assess any needs you may be able to assist with
    • “own your street”, be the hands and feet of Jesus to your neighbors
    • If there are any needs on your street our church could help with, send needs to info@fruitcove.com… Include address and list of needs

Love the Most Vulnerable in our Church Family-

  • We have a plan to check in with church members who are widows and shut-ins, assess any needs they may have and respond to those needs

Love our Community-

  • As we hear from church members and members of our community, we’ll be able to put a list of needs together

Friday: for anyone willing and able to help with storm cleanup in our community, meet at The Pavilion at 10am

The following guidelines are used during hurricane season to plan for schedule changes:

If St. Johns County is under:

Condition Scheduling Adjustments
Tropical Storm Watch

  • Schedule changes will be announced on fruitcove.com as necessary
Tropical Storm Warning

  • Schedule changes can be expected
  • fruitcove.com will carry the most current information
  • Office hours may be adjusted for the safety of our staff team
Hurricane Watch

  • All church activities are cancelled
  • Office will operate with reduced staff if it is safe to do so
Hurricane Warning

  • All church activities are cancelled

As always, if St. Johns County Schools are closed, our Weekday Preschool will be closed as well.

Because our facilities are not equipped or certified to serve safely as a shelter, we will not be open during a storm. Information on shelters in our community can be found at http://www.sjcemergencymanagement.org/shetinfo.html

We will work with Florida Baptist Disaster Relief to serve recovery and relief efforts as called upon.
