I am all about my Faith, Family and Football. My life is committed to being about God’s business, getting to know my savior and doing my best to make Him known. God has blessed me with an amazing wife, Kelly Muniz, since May of 2001. We have four awesome kids in Zachary, Izaac, Abigail & Anna. Took four years and two months to have all four of them born and no, none are twins, all are single births. I have served in various ministries since 1997 ranging from children, youth, para-church camps and sports ministries. Love seeing God at work through “regular people” as He uses them to spread the good news to other “regular people.” Love the uniqueness of Sports Ministry. It gives the layman a very simple non-confrontational approach to bring his/her non-Christian friend or family member to the church. This is where they will “rub shoulders” with other Christians who have at least one interest in common (the sport itself or the players) and they will typically hear God’s word in a devotion-type of setting. It is a blessing for me as I regularly hear others say how they have been able to get their unbelieving friends/family to hear God’s word through one of our SportsLife Ministries. I was born in Chicago and my family relocated to Miami when I was five years old. Because of this I am a fan of the Chicago & Miami sports teams. Go Bears! and Go Fins! Now we are loving ministry with Fruit Cove Baptist Church here in Jacksonville, so I imagine it won’t be long before I say Go Jags! and Go Sharks!
I graduated from Southern Baptist Seminary. Pastored churches in Indiana, Arkansas, and Florida. We moved to Jacksonville in 1964 to serve in the Florida Baptist Convention; first in the Training Union Department for 13 years, then I was director of the Brotherhood Department for 14 years. I retired from the Convention in 1991. When the Jacksonville Seminary Extension Center opened in 1995, I became director of that program until 2004 when we moved to Fruit Cove. I was called to serve as Minister to Senior Adults here at Fruit Cove Baptist Church. I was married to my wife, Carolyn, for 59 years before her death in 2012. We have 4 children,11 grand children and 3 great grand children. I love people, especially Senior Adults! My favorite Bible verse is Colossians 3:17 “And whatsoever you do in word or deed do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.”
